FLORENTIA CONSORT – THE ORCHESTRA
Florentia Consort – the Orchestra is a conductorless chamber ensemble of 16 young, talented artists from all over the world, dedicated to a creative spirit and the collaboration that comes with playing great chamber music.
Founded in Florence in 2013 by Maestri Antonio Artese, Alberto Bologni and Judith Glyde, the orchestra, for these three artists and educators, is a distillation of their own experience. The Orchestra, coming together for a period of time each year in Florence intends to disseminate the chamber music repertoire, from the classics to the contemporary, throughout Europe, with performances that will stand out with vibrant energy and freshness of interpretation.
Each member of the orchestra, a soloist in their own right, is committed to embrace this artistic vision with a creative spirit and collaboration, becoming cultural Ambassadors throughout the world. A democratic organization, each member of the orchestra will be empowered with an equal voice in the artistic vision; there will be a rotation of leaders for each work. We are committed to the professional advancement of these young artists, hoping that the orchestra will be a launching pad for international careers.
THE ORCHESTRA PROGRAM
Starting Fall 2015, all members of Florentia Consort will gather in Florence for 3 months in the fall from mid-September to mid-December, and for 3 weeks in April, the latter period being a period of concert touring around Italy and Europe.
“ADOPT A MUSICIAN” PROGRAM
Through the program “Adopt a Musician,” members of the community will house members of the Orchestra during the period of the artists’ residency in Florence. The artistic director, Antonio Artese, is responsible for implementing and preserving the artistic vision of the FCO Orchestra.
